Working with virtualization technology can be 20x more expensive than the hardware-based solutions, but the difference with SCALE COMPUTINGs software was immediately clear. As an older woman, I wasnt sure I would be able to get up to speed; however, with SCALE COMPUTING I was able to start running the software quickly. Not impressed at all by the lack of innovation and use of next generation technology. It seems outdated and outmoded, lacking features that I need in the modern market. The virtualization capabilities werent quite up to the mark either. Poor performance, different kinds of bugs, and the lack of compatibility with other applications made it very difficult to use. Plus, the user interface seemed plain, unimaginative and unimpressive. What is most disheartening is that Scale Computings virtualization offering does not have the capacity to integrate with newer technologies. Its like taking a step or two backwards, as these technologies are now considered as the industry standard. The reality is that Scale Computing should consider revamping their virtualization offering to better keep up with the times and cater to new trends. Overall, Scale Computing is lacking in the innovation and technology sector. As such, I wont risk trying out their virtualization offerings - 1/10.

I recently had the chance to test out SCALEs virtualization software and I must say that Im quite impressed. I rate the product vision a 3.5/5. While I can certainly appreciate their efforts in making virtualization available to those of us with smaller businesses, I wasnt entirely pleased with their lack of focus on the scalability of applications and services. Regarding features, Im giving the product a 3.5/5. While the user interface is straightforward and the configuration process was simple, I found that some of the features offered were too basic for my needs. Additionally, the fact that some of the setup had to be done manually was a bit of a let-down. Interoperability and integration with other systems is key to any virtualization platform, and SCALE does quite well in that regard. I found that all of my applications ran smoothly and were easy to transfer between physical and virtual servers. I give this area while the product a 4/5. Ensuring that performance and reliability is in check is also very important. Thankfully, I can confidently say that SCALEs virtualization software consistently meets both of these criteria. I can clearly see why people who have purchased the virtualization software have been disappointed. The cost is simply too high for what you are getting. Considering the amount of features and the lack of innovation offered, their cost of ownership is definitely too much. There are much better alternatives that offer a better value. Plus, Scale Computings virtualization offering does not have a great track record of reliability. This can potentially result in higher costs for maintenance or replacement purposes. For example, when issues arise and support is required, one could end up needing to pay more than expected.
