Microsoft Power Point Rating - 5/5 I use Microsoft Power Point for desktop publishing and presentation needs, and Ive got to say that Im very pleased. It packs enough power to handle most projects, and its incredibly intuitive to use. The overall design of the platform is modern and modern, which definitely adds a level of credence to the platform. The interoperability and integration of the platform is top-notch. It has the ability to easily import and export content from other documents and programs, such as Word and Excel. It also has an extensive library of assets, which Ive found to be incredibly helpful when I was working on new slides. Overall, the platform is a success. Review 3: Microsofts Desktop Publishing Software I purchased Microsofts Desktop Publishing Software and have to say that I am impressed with the quality of the product. The product vision behind this software is quite good. Microsoft has designed a software suite that is easy to use, regardless of the user having any knowledge of digital publishing. This is definitely a step-up from their competitors as it offers better value for money. 9 out of 10 for product vision. The product features are truly remarkable. With the templates and tools offered, I was able to easily edit and arrange images and text. In addition, the royalty-free images added a lot of value - especially for someone like myself who didnt have experience with digital publishing. This product has also allowed me to access its features on my mobile device, making it very convenient for me. 9 out of 10 for product features. I believe that Microsoft is providing great value for money with this software. Even though it is slightly more costly than other options, the features and quality are worth it. With the variety of tools it offers, theres no doubt that this software is suitable for any publishing need. Id give value for money 8 out of 10.

Microsoft Word Rating: 4/5 Microsoft Word is one of the oldest and most popular Microsoft offerings and Ive used it for so many years that it feels like a part of me now. It is one of the biggest reasons I dont have to buy an expensive Adobe suite every couple of years. I appreciate that Microsoft took the feedback of their community seriously and upgraded Word to include features and addons which support digital publications and formatting. The fact that Word is available across all devices was also an immense help since, as an older woman, Im often out and about but need to be able to send off a quick report or update a presentation. However, this mobility of the app comes with some hiccups like missed synchronization or lost autosaves. The ease of use and navigation of the app itself is satisfactory though and I cant complain about its functionality. Word remains an integral part of my daily life at home, but for more complex projects I rely on other desktop publishing software, such as Publisher or Affinity.

It is extremely user friendly and I find that I can explore and create with the given tools quite easily. I love that the software allows me to adjust certain aspects of the text, such as size and font. I can apply different fonts and colours to a document with ease. The package also has lots of interesting templates to choose from when creating a project and the price for such a package was very reasonable. Over all, I think Microsoft Desktop Publishing Software is an excellent choice for anyone who wants to create beautiful documents with ease and for a good value. It automatically connected with Word, PowerPoint and Excel. This enabled me to quickly create professional-looking documents that I could easily combine with spreadsheets and presentations. I could even directly insert my spreadsheets into the document. This saved me a lot of time. The software supported all the latest technology, such as drag and drop features and touch screen interactions. This was especially helpful when I was in a hurry. I could easily move and resize photos, text, and other objects with just my finger. This made creating rich designs much quicker than before. Overall, Microsoft Publisher was excellent. The features they offer are quite outdated, while their tools are basic in comparison to what is being offered by other companies. Additionally, their design language and interface is quite archaic and in need of an update. Ease of Use - 2/5 The software wasnt too easy to use either, as I had to overcome quite a steep learning curve to get accustomed to the interface. Additionally, the graphics options were quite limited, and the overall design language of the program was quite dated. I think Microsoft should have made a concerted effort to update the design language and make the interface more accessible, as I believe this would have improved the user experience immensely. Overall, I wouldnt recommend for anyone to purchase Microsofts Desktop Publishing software as it fails to live up to modern standards.

Microsoft Excel Rating: 2/5 I have had plenty of issues with Microsoft Excel as an older woman, especially when it comes to desktop publishing. The spreadsheet program offers very limited options in terms of designing and layout. There is no option to add shapes or arrows, and the only way to add a visual element is through very basic charts or the limited use of clip art. The formatting tools are also limited and stubborn when it comes to adjusting the size of objects or adjusting margin and cell alignments. Of course, you can use formulas to kind of adjust some of these features, but its still a complex and tedious process. Unsurprisingly, Excel also lacks any kind of built-in templates, making it quite difficult to produce any kind of publication unless you are willing to partake in a large amount of customization. The use of Excel simply isnt up to par when dealing with modern designs and desktop publishing projects, not to mention Excel doesnt support more specialized vector drawing applications. In my opinion, the spreadsheet program is better for analyzing data than it is for producing digital documents.

When I heard about Microsoft Publisher for desktop publishing, I wasnt sure what to expect. Fortunately, I was completely blown away by the program. As a young woman, I had no problem understanding and using the program. The interface was very intuitive and the design tools allowed for the perfect finish. Interoperability and integration were also great. It automatically connected with Word, PowerPoint and Excel. This enabled me to quickly create documents that I could add spreadsheets, presentations, and multimedia files to. No other program offered me this level of integration. The softwares support for current and future use cases was also great. I was able to access modern features such as drag and drop and touch screen interactions. This allowed me to move and resize photos, text, and other elements within minutes. I could even quickly enhance media with annotations. Overall, Microsoft Publisher was perfect for desktop publishing. It was easy to use, interoperable and supported the latest technology. I highly recommend, and give it a 9.5/10!

Microsoft Publisher Rating: 3/5 As an older woman, I have tried out Microsoft Publisher and while I appreciate the easy-to-use features of the software, I believe it fails to provide adequate support for futuristic use cases. For example, the design options are still quite limited as far as creating 3D objects and/or interactive media goes. It is great for creating card, invites and flyers or basic posters, but it falls short if you are looking to create more complex pieces. Furthermore, the learning curve can be steep for those not familiar with basic Photoshop / design fundamentals. Even if you are experienced in these tools, it may be difficult to transition to Publisher because the layout and tools arent quite as intuitive as one might expect. I would lean more towards more comprehensive designing apps like Affinity Designer for those with more advanced needs. Overall, Publisher is a decent choice for users wanting to create fairly simple projects that require minimal design work, however I wouldnt recommend it for those wanting to create more intricate and modern designs.

It is currently stuck in its older version, which although it works well, doesnt offer the modern features or functionalities you would expect. Microsoft Word Rating - 3.5/5 I use Microsoft Word in my desktop publishing, and must say that I find it to be serviceable. It does what it does well, but I do find it to be lacking in a few areas. For example, the interoperability and integration with the platform isnt as seamless as Id like it to be. Ive had a few issues importing content from other documents and programs, which has been a bit of a pain. The library of assets available isnt as expansive as other platforms, but theres still something to be found here. I found it to have enough graphics, templates, and objects that I needed to get by. In terms of innovation, Microsoft Word simply isnt as advanced as its competitors. Its clear that the platform is stuck in its older version, which while it is serviceable, doesnt offer the modern features or functionalities youd typically see. Microsoft Paint Rating: 1/5 I have had a difficult time trying to work with Microsoft Paint, perhaps because as an older woman, my design sensibilities have evolved with time. I think of Paint as a relic in terms of software—a tool for the tech amateurs. I find that my projects come out looking amateurish and unprofessional. The font and style options are limited, leaving many of the designs looking very bland and basic. Additionally, I find the overall navigation of the app to be incredibly challenging and time-consuming, especially when trying to edit / adjust the size and shape of items within a project. I spent way too much time piloting through menus and submenus just to add a text box and I was left frustrated every single time. The limitation of the apps features makes it almost unusable as a desktop publishing tool. I think the only viable purpose for this software would be to add text to a photograph, but even then, I prefer more comprehensive programs that offer a greater degree of customization and control.

The ability to edit images after placing them in as well as the intuitive design system made the whole process very easy. Plus, they even had royalty-free stock images available which I could use. Its no surprise that this software costs a bit more, but its well worth the investment. Id give the product features a 9 out of 10. It has been very easy to use and I havent had to refer to the instructions manual in order to get up and running. The one thing I would like improved with their software is that they need to create a few more templates so I can customize my content easily, but that is a small complaint in light of the otherwise excellent experience I have had. There are numerous features in this software such as automatic formatting, different font types, and text wrapping to name a few which allow for maximum creativity and flexibility in my publishing. I understand the emphasis on simplicity in order to make the software user friendly, but I would like to be able to access more varied design options that allow me to tweak and customize slide and page styles more effectively. I also found that in trying to create unconventional layouts and formats, the app kind of starts clunking and crashing (which then requires a help from a tech). While it is a great tool to create presentations, I wouldnt recommend Powerpoint if you are looking to produce stunning and modern desktop design projects.
