I really appreciate the comprehensive set of features that OctoPrint offers. Using the software, we can maintain remote control of our 3D printers from anywhere, as well as set up scripts and PC-based firmware. We can also easily monitor the 3D printer using various components, such as webcams. All these features allow us to effectively manage our 3D printing jobs, and simplify the entire 3D printing process.
In terms of ease of use, OctoPrint is easy to use and get familiar with, thanks to its straightforward user interface. The software also comes with a good set of help modules and tutorials, making it easier for us to learn how to use the software and bring our team up to speed.

I'm also impressed with the overall innovation that OctoPrint offers. The software is powered by Spark Cloud, allowing for 3D printing management from anywhere. This feature came in very handy for me when I had to manage 3D printing in multiple locations. It is feature-rich and offers the ability to monitor and track prints.
OctoPrint is also at the cutting edge of 3D printing technology. The software adapts to changes in the 3D printing industry and it continuously adds more features for a better experience. It is definitely a next generation technology.
But I must mention that the software can be slow and unresponsive at times. This could be a downside for some people who are using the software in a professional setting.

The software offers a diverse selection of features that make it easy for us to manage our 3D printing projects. The user interface is extremely intuitive and all of the tools are quite easy to use – so our team had no trouble getting started.
Furthermore, the software offers a strong set of future-proof use cases. We've been able to utilize the full integration with virtual reality and AI technology, which has put our 3D printing projects way ahead the game.
Beyond the features, the customer service has been absolutely fantastic. We haven't had any issues, but they've still offered us ample amount of assistance to get us up and running.

The Adaptive Layer system is the heart of their software, yet it is by far its weakest point in terms of versatility and reliability. Not to mention, the lack of a modern slicing engine has greatly hindered OctoPrint’s ability to effectively design and print complex objects with smooth edges and minimal artifacts.
At this time, I would not recommend OctoPrint’s 3D Printing Software as a reliable way to produce components that require constant attention and slicer trials. The level of customization available is far inferior to Simplify3D and other industry-leading platforms, and their color control system remains inadequate and incomplete. While the software features a user-friendly interface, I have found the software to be slow at times and prone to crashing when trying to connect to multiple printers simultaneously. Moreover, their color control system and dual-use applications continue to be unreliable, especially for complex designs.
Additionally, I have experienced difficulty in trying to adjust OctoPrint’s slicer settings to cover a large number of printing applications. The platform fails to address the problem of slicing accurately, and it consistently produces poor prints. Despite the supposed “next gen†features, I find that the product design is still years behind the industry leaders.'

I find myself highly unimpressed with OctoPrint’s 3D Printing Software offerings. For example, the auto-calibration system fails to address the issue of jerky or jittery parts — a major flaw in its design. Additionally, the lack of an automated mesh repair function limits the software’s versatility and reliability.
Further, I find that the Adaptive Layer system is far too slow when it comes to iterating the slicer settings. At the same time, I was unable to find support for multi-modal printing — a key feature in today’s 3D Printing Software market. Lastly, the slightest errors in the design render can overload and freeze the software, thus making it difficult to debug.'

'OctoPrint's 3D printing software - cost of ownership
I’m a small business owner and I recently tried OctoPrint’s 3D printing software. Whenever I was using 3D printers, I always had to buy a standalone machine that was expensive and time-consuming to maintain. However, OctoPrint brought the software right to my business directly, allowing for a more cost effective solution. The software runs on Raspberry Pi’s and doesn’t cost more than a few hundred bucks.
OctoPrint also has an array of features such as 3D file uploads, monitoring and remote control options. I was surprised to find that the software gives real-time access to my 3D printer from anywhere I am. There are also a lot of tools like a GCODE viewer and slicer available. This made for an entirely new cost effective way for me to use 3D printers in my business!
However, I must mention that I’ve had some issues with the software. Occasionally, I notice that the software has a tendency to lag. Also, the user interface isn’t the most intuitive, so it takes some time to get used to.

I am a Senior Manager and have been using OctoPrint 3D printing software for the past year. While there are some areas of the software that have been useful and have saved me time, I must say that overall I am disappointed with it. The main problem I have with the software is its lack of proactive product vision development and innovation. As the software has become popular, more and more improvements and additions should have been developed, but I find that is not the case.
In terms of the product features, I think that they too could be improved upon. The user interface is clunky and it can be challenging for beginners to understand the basics of 3D printing quickly. Additionally, I find sometimes I need to adjust settings that used to be available, but now are not. This makes some of the tasks I needed to do with the software more difficult than they need to be.

This has been a great asset for our engineering operations, allowing us to more effectively manage our 3D printing tasks.
I appreciate the features that OctoPrint provides to our team, like the ability to use scripts and firmware, or to also monitor the 3D printer using webcams. These features make it easier for us to keep track of the progress of our 3D printing jobs, as well as quickly and conveniently troubleshoot any issues that may come up. Furthermore, the software also supports multiple languages, meaning that it can be easily adopted and used by teams from all over the world.
The user interface for OctoPrint is fairly easy to use and understand. The accompanying help documentation and tutorials also help to get our team up to speed with learning how to use the software. But one downside to the software is that we cannot control the power settings, or pause and resume printing jobs.
In general, I'm content with OctoPrint for our engineering needs. While more features need to be added to make it even more powerful and useful, it still is a great software product.

In conclusion, I do not recommend OctoPrint’s 3D Printing Software for any type of modern production. The software experiences many issues when it comes to interoperability and integration, and its slicing capabilities are far behind it’s peers. Not to mention, the software hangs during intensive operations and incredibly difficult to set up accurately when attempting to work with multiple printers.

I am a Senior Manager and I have been using OctoPrint 3D printing software for the past few months. While I can say that I have gotten some use out of it, I still find myself highly unsatisfied with the product. The main issue that I find is that the product vision doesn't seem to be moving in any direction. It feels like the software has become stagnant, and I have seen no real innovation over the past several months.
In terms of product features, I don't think that the software has been completely updated to meet the needs of both newcomers and veterans alike. The user interface can be quite confusing and new users may struggle to understand the basics of 3D printing. Additionally, some features I used to have access to have since been removed, making it harder to accomplish certain tasks.
Finally, customer service is also a bit of a letdown. While the team is knowledgeable and willing to help, they can often take days or even weeks to get back to me with a response. All in all, I have found OctoPrint 3D printing software to be less useful than I had hoped and I am now looking for alternative options.

The product features of the software is just amazing. It provides complete control over the 3D printer configuration and monitoring, such as temperatures monitoring up to 5 extruders and heated bed, filament and layer observation. It has an incredibly wide selection of plugins to expand its functionalities, such as remote access, backup setting, and more. I am very satisfied with its features.

I have used OctoPrint’s 3D printing software for a few months now, and I have to say the customer support has been top-notch. Whenever I had an issue or needed help with something, their customer support team was really helpful and responded quickly. They always gave clear and helpful instructions, so I was able to get my issue resolved in no time.
However, I must mention that not all customer support issues can be resolved quickly. There were a few times where I had a difficult question that was not easily answered.

Overall, I am unimpressed with what OctoPrint’s 3D Printing Software offerings are as an organization. With regards to interoperability and integration, I find that other programs available on the market perform better than OctoPrint’s platform. In my experience, dual-use applications such as Klipper and PrusaSlicer often prove to be far smoother than the OctoPrint’s Adaptive Layers system — a major weak point in their product design. Additionally, their heating control system is lacklustre and fails to meet the standards of its competition, including Simplify3D.
That being said, I appreciate OctoPrint’s overall level of innovation. The auto-calibration system allows users to regularly check the most common calibration parameters which is a major step forward compared to what was previously available. In addition, the software offers a steady 10Gbps connection to the 3D Printer which enables a smooth printing experience and makes it easier for users to preview their designs without a slowdown in performance.'
